FOOD REVIEW: The Chester Fields

I love good food.

Over the past couple of months I have visited The Chester Fields a few times now so I thought it was time to let the world know about it. The Chester Fields is based just outside of Chester with amazing views over the Cheshire countryside.

"The Chester Fields is a stunning country pub & restaurant set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside yet only 4 miles from Chester city centre. With glorious gardens for Al Fresco country dining and private ski-style huts for drinking ice cold beer, great real ales and authentic Austrian Schnapps, this is one of the region's premier venues with the very best views in the County."

From the outside it doesn't look like your average restaurant as it's a simple red brick barn conversion but inside it is tastefully decorated and it's really, really cosy. There are all sorts of interesting items scattered around with lots of wooden features such as the beams and log fireplaces - I wish I had taken a few more pictures but I was 'hangry' and needed feeding.

I didn't take photos each time I went but you will be able to see how delicious the food looks from the pictures below. WARNING - They will make you hungry!

Grilled Rump of Welsh Lamb Wild garlic pearl barley risotto, olive tapenade, Parmesan crumb, samphire - £15.25

The Chester Fields Gold beer battered fish & chips Home-made tartare sauce, triple cooked chips, homemade mushy peas - £12.25

Both of the above mains were delicious. I had the rump of lamb, which was perfectly cooked, juicy, flavoursome and accompanying it with garlic pearl barley risotto was amazing, something I would have never thought of but I really want to try and make this at home! Rob had the fish and chips, which was massive, the batter was light and not a drop of grease was on his plate which makes a very nice change, the homemade mushy peas weren't to our taste but the sauce that came with it was definitely a winner.

The desserts.....oh the deserts.....

Strawberry & Elderflower Cheesecake White chocolate ice cream, granola £5.75

Gluten Free Chocolate Brownie Hazelnuts, chocolate sauce, salted caramel ice cream, salted caramel popcorn - £5.75

There are no words for how delicious these desserts were. One tip though if you are visiting, the cheesecake was definitely enough for two people!

The staff here were extremely friendly, we had two young guys serving us while we were there and both of them were really professional, friendly and made us feel really comfortable which is a big thing for me when I am eating eat, if I don't feel comfortable I will not relax and enjoy myself, but I felt very relaxed here.

The Chester Fields cater for party and events and I think this would be a perfect setting for a special occasion. They also do special evenings such as "Grill & Grapes" aka steak and wine offers and they also have special dates on the calendar where there is 50% OFF food.

I would definitely recommend visiting The Chester Fields if you are in the area.
