What Makes Me Happy?

I have been reading a blog called The Love Cats Inc for a while now and Helen, who writes it, does a regular post called "Things That Make Me Happy". I really enjoy reading positive posts like this and finding out what other people have been doing, looking forward to or just what simple things in life has made people's week, or month, happy. Here is my little list of what has made me happy recently.....

What Makes Me Happy?

Booking a holiday - Last week I booked a holiday to Lanzarote! Somewhere I have been before which is very exciting. I haven't been on holiday for a year so this is a very much needed vitamin D top up! And with less than 3 weeks to wait, this holiday is going to keep me extremely motivated. The picture below is of the private terrace in the room we have booked, where we can sunbathe in peace if we don't fancy going down to the pool - bliss!

Receiving thoughtful gifts - It was my birthday a few weeks ago (read what I got up to HERE) and I received some beautiful treats. Anyone who knows me well, usually knows about my love of beauty products so receiving all these amazing, and useful, presents was perfect.

Cooking for my partner - This may sound a bit of a daft thing to say makes me happy but as Rob is a vegetarian and I am not, it's sometimes hard to find tasty and different dishes to cook. I found a recipe for a Butternut Squash and Cashew Wellington in the cook book The Part Time Vegetarian and it was delicious. I always feel a sense of achievement and happiness cooking something delicious especially if it's something I have never cooked before.

Paying off my overdraft - This month was the first month in as long as I can remember where I finally had some left over cash. It was costing me £30+ per month in charges for the 'pleasure' of having it (damn you Halifax and extortionate, ridiculous charges). So, after some gently persuasion from my other half, I paid it all off in one go - weight lifted!
Cosy nights in - Ah, gone are the days of going out all night and getting so drunk you can't stand! I can 100% say I would happily trade nights out for cosy nights in on the sofa with my partner in crime eating delicious food, watching crap TV and generally being cosy, comfortable and happy at home.

I would love to know what has been making YOU happy recently so feel free to let me know in the comments.
