Retro - Maybelline Great Lash Mascara.....

Everyone must has seen this iconic mascara, but why have I never tried it, I asked myself while browsing in Boots?!

After a bit of research I found out that this mascara has been around for over 40 years!!! No wonder I remember it as a teenager in many a make up bag! It was released in 1971 (OMG) and they still use the same basic formula today, Maybelline must be doing something right!! They have released different variations over the years but the packaging has stayed the same.....

Retro/Vintage Pink and Green.....

Anyway, onto the product itself, I was surprised when I opened it to see how teeny weeny the brush is, also I usually go for the rubber wands over these bristle wands but let's test it out and see.....

The wand does hold quite a lot of product at the end, although I wasn't shocked by this as I find most bristle wands do. I am very impressed at the application for this little brush.....

For me it gives me lots of length without being all spidery, the formula is just right, not too wet or clumpy, so I am extremely happy with that. The one downfall I experienced with the product is that it did smudge below my bottom lashes after a few hours, I have tried to photograph it.....

(Please excuse my horrible bags!!!)

This doesn't look too bad in the photo but it looked worse in 'real life' but on the plus side I do have my Anastacia Lash Genius (which I reviewed here) so I can use that to lock in the mascara on the bottom lashes. Overall for £4.99 (price in Boots, you can pick it up cheaper online) it is a fab mascara and I would definitely repurchase.

Have you ever owned/tried this iconic mascara?

  1. I used to love this mascara and repurchased it quite a few times when I was in high school! I think I might buy it again soon though to use on my bottom lashes as I love how small and easy to use the brush is :)
