BareMinerals Original Foundation Sample

I recently received a sample of BareMinerals Original Foundation (powdered foundation) and a BareMinerals Baby kabuki brush you can get these in the YOU box by Latest In Beauty.

I have NEVER used a powder foundation and have never thought about using one, I can't see how they work? So it's time to put it to the test.

How BareMinerals describe the foundation:

"Our ORIGINAL SPF 15 Foundation gives you all the flawless coverage you want with a naturally luminous finish that won't clump or cake. It's clinically proven to improve the appearance of your skin over time. The creamy minerals diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles without drying out your skin. Its silky, soft texture looks like a powder, but feels like a cream and buffs on beautifully. Made with only the purest, highest quality ingredients. It's makeup so pure you can sleep in it.®"

I took a photo of me without any makeup on (which is a horrible sight so not for the easily scared) and one after I had applied my makeup (slight improvement on the first).

(looking slightly grumpy?)

As you can see it gives an even coverage and looked nice/OK when I applied it, but this was short lived, after finishing my makeup areas on my face felt quite heavy, around my nose and chin especially it felt like I had applied to much powder (which I didn't) and then after only an hour of wearing it my skin tone looked uneven again.
BareMinerals claims it is luminous and i'm afraid it is the TOTAL opposite this foundation gives you a complete MATTE finish. They also claim 'It's silky, soft texture looks like a powder, but feels like a cream....' no it looks like a powder and feels like a powder.

I like to have medium to full coverage and I like my foundation to be extremely long lasting and this just isn't for me at all.

If you want a light coverage for a few hours max and don't like wearing liquid foundation then this would be ideal for you but for me the price tag of £25 is too steep as I would need to re-apply repeatedly throughout the day.

Sorry BareMinerals it's a thumbs down from me......but how cute is the baby buki brush!!! Aaaaawwwww!!!

What foundation do you prefer? Liquid or powder?

  1. I came across a bareminerals stand in my local boots and was really intrested in the idea of a mineral powder foundation. I've never tried a power foundation before and now I really want to Xx

I have given you an award over on my blog! Xx

  2. I LOVE this foundation! It's just the opposite for me - I apply it at 8am and it's still going strong at 5pm! I use Smashbox primer before application though - may a primer would help?

    1. Maybe that's why Jean? Also I was thinking my skin is oily/combination so maybe my skin soaks it up lol!!

  3. Interestingly, I think this is the first negative review of Bare Minerals I've ever read. Despite all the raves I never felt compelled to try it, because I was afraid it would be exactly what you described. I think I'll stick with my liquid foundations for now!

    1. You should definitly try it hun, like Jean said above it works great for her, it's a shame as I like the idea, but I would definitly try somthing else from the collection maybe a blush?
